Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce Committees

Education Committee: (2nd Wednesday of the month, 7:30 a.m., Chamber building)  It is the responsibility of the Education Committee to initiate, promote, implement and monitor Chamber activities designed to inform and assist members; to serve by understanding and implementing all educational opportunities.  (Rock Springs Rocks, Wellness Challenge, Monthly Luncheons, Sweetwater County Leadership Program, Training Seminars)

Finance Committee: (4th Wednesday of the month, 12 p.m., Chamber building) It is the responsibility of the Finance Committee to prepare an annual budget for the Chamber and present such budget, via the Vice President of Finance, to the Board for approval.  The Finance Committee is also in charge of reviewing all bookkeeping procedures to assure that they are consistent with standard accounting principals.

HDIC Committee: (4th Wednesday of the month, 3 p.m., BLM) It is the responsibility of the High Desert Interpretive Center Committee to oversee and assess progress on the construction and implementation of the new visitor’s center in Rock Springs.  With a future location on Western Wyoming Community College’s campus, it will serve to house exhibits, area information and attractions, and as a base for the Sweetwater County Joint Travel and Tourism office.

Legislative Committee: This Committee meets as needed.  It is the responsibility of the Legislative Committee to review current and proposed state, county, and local legislation that has or may have an impact on the Chamber’s mission and to take a proactive approach to the development of strategies to be implemented by the Chamber in assuring that all legislation passed is favorable to that mission (County Forums, 2% Lodging Tax PAC, 5th Cent Local Option Tax PAC).

Membership Services Committee: (3rd Tuesday of the month, 4 p.m., Chamber building)  It is the responsibility of the Membership Services Committee to develop, evaluate, and reverse necessary services, which the Chamber provides to its members.  The committee will always seek to improve tangible benefits directly available to the Chamber membership.

Retail Committee: (2nd Thursday of the month, 8 a.m. Chamber building)  It is the responsibility of the Retail Committee to maintain an awareness of the retail environment within the area served by the Chamber and to develop activities designed to enhance the vitality of retail trade in that area (Gift Certificate Program, Holiday Parade, Flower Planter Program, Shop Local Program, Rock Springs City Wide Cleanup).

Tourism Committee: (3rd Thursday of the month, 12 p.m., Chamber building)  It is the responsibility of the Tourism Committee to inform, educate and promote members and citizens the travel, recreational, and convention resources in the area.  They ensure that travelers within the Chamber area have current and accurate promotional materials and information sufficient to enhance their travel and promote the region. (Green River Basin Scenic Byway, Mountain Bike Trail Development, Wild Horse Scenic Loop Tour, High Desert Interpretive Center)

Vision Committee: (3rd Thursday of the month, 3 p.m., Chamber building) It is the responsibility of the Vision Committee (1) to monitor activities of the Chamber relative to the yearly goals established at the Retreat, (2) to assure that the infrastructure (by-laws, Employee Manual, Policy and Procedure Manual, compensations schedules and the like) of the Chamber is sound, current, and in keeping with the program and operations of the Chamber and (3) to assess trends that may have a future impact on the mission of the Chamber and to bring the Board recommendations regarding anticipated business, political, and other needs of the Chamber’s members.

Wayfinding and Signage: (3rd Friday of the month, 11:30 a.m., Chamber building) It is the responsibility of the Wayfinding and Signage Committee to assess and implement suggestions given by the Destination Development booklet. Specifically, this committee will address placing more signs in Rock Springs to assist visitors and residents in finding frequently requested locations and area attractions.
